Navigating work with a chronic illness can come with many invisible challenges.
Pippa Stacey is a writer and blogger, who also works for Astriid as a Communications Consultant. She has ME/CFS, an energy-limiting chronic illness, which means she has to manage her time and energy particularly carefully to keep on top of her symptoms and condition management. Because of this, Pippa typically works part-time and from home, with as much flexibility as possible over her tasks.
Through this series of short videos filmed towards the end of 2020, she takes us throughout a typical working week as a freelancer with a long-term illness. She captures some of her content writing and communications planning for Astriid, signing copies of her book, planning rest and recovery around meeting times, curating a social media presence, and preparing some of her work as a blogger.
She also shares some of the ups and downs of working with a chronic illness, including how she tailors her plans depending on how she’s feeling on any given day, and highlights some of her practical tips and tricks for managing specific health needs alongside developing a career.
